“Panagrangpaya ti Partuat: Tignay ti Alilem”

The Local Government Unit of Alilem under the leadership of Mayor Mar Ruel P. Sumabat initiated an Art Workhop in collaboration with the Ytignay Batch held on May 27, 2026 at the Alilem Multi-Purpose Hall and participated by 75 children and from the youth sector.

This workshop aims to preserve and promote our local culture and heritage, and develop creativity and talent, which can provide opportunities for people—especially youth—to discover and improve their artistic skills and help build confidence and self-expression. This was an opportunity to bring people together regardless of age or background. It strengthened social connections, promoted teamwork, and fostered a sense of belonging in the community.

We wanted to give young people productive activities that can keep them away from harmful influences such as drugs, violence, or excessive screen time because art, after all, is a healthy outlet for emotions and ideas. Through this activity, we hope to create safe spaces where individuals can express themselves and improve emotional well-being.

The Ytignay Batch was the fruit of the Linangan Art Residency Program organized by Congresswoman Deputy Speaker Kristine Singson and Mayor Eric Singson of Candon City. Alilem is fortunate and grateful to be the first community-recipient of art learnings from the Ytignay Batch.
